CAR CRASHES INTO ANNAMORIAH BUILDING - Avoids Head-On Collision

(03/23/2002)

Car crashes into Annamoriah building

Two Grantsville residents received minor injuries when their car left the highway, avoiding a head-on collision with another vehicle.

Eugene Shaffer and Etta Coon were traveling west on State Route 5 at Annamoriah. Coon was taken to Minnie Hamilton Health Care Center for evaluation by Calhoun EMS, where she was released. Shaffer suffered a laceration on his head.

A witness behind the Shaffer vehicle, Terry Harris of Grantsville, stated a dark colored sports car, probably black, similar to a Camero or Firebird came down the highway on the wrong side of the road. Police were looking for the vehicle, which left the scene of the accident.

Shaffer's car smashed into an old store building along the highway, likely totaling his vehicle.

The Grantsville VFD also responded to the scene.

Etta Coon taken to MHHCC for evaluation
