SIMONTON HOLDS AUCTION FOR DESTROYED RITCHIE ANIMAL SHELTER

(03/15/2010)
After fire destroyed the Ritchie County Animal Shelter earlier this year, lots of animal lovers came forward to help with the rebuilding, including Calhoun citizens.

Volunteers didn't miss a beat, and are starting to rebuild with the help of the community.

"Simonton offered us two truck loads of windows to auction off," said the shelter's, vice president Norma Davis.

The auction drew around 50 people, raising more than $15,000.

"We didn't approach them. They actually approached us," said Davis. "Some of their employees got together and called us and said they'd like to donate some windows for auction."

"It's important for Simonton to stay involved in the community," added Matt Bush, a production supervisor at the plant. "Its important for us, when something happens in the community to step up."
