Mae Ruth Ash, 91, of Belpre

Mae Ruth Ash, 91, of Belpre, passed away on March 7, 2010, at St. Joseph's Hospital in Parkersburg.

She was born June 30, 1918 in Shock, W.Va., a daughter of the late Curt and Alice Fluharty Steele.

She moved to Porterfield and lived in the same house for about 70 years. She had attended Porterfield Baptist Church and was active with the Women's Club.

Mae is survived by her daughter, Judith Ann Ahart of Belpre; two granddaughters, Michelle Ahart Hyer of Parkersburg, Mary Ahart Westfall of Belpre; two grandsons, Bryan Griffith of Vienna, Steven Griffith of Hopedale, Ohio, and several great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Mae was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Ash in 1998; son, Kenneth Ash in 1994; daughter, Mary Ash Griffith in 1983; sister, Louise Blake, and brothers, Paul, Bernard and Floyd Steele.

The funeral service will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Leavitt Funeral Home of Belpre with Tom Butterfield officiating. Burial will be at Rockland Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. today, and prior to the service on Wednesday.
