Brenda C. Scranta, 50 - Tunkhannock, PA

(02/28/2010)
Brenda C. Scranta, 50, of Tunkhannock, Pennsylvania, died Friday, February 26, 2010, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, PA, after a short illness.

She was born November 5, 1959, in Kingwood, WV, a daughter of Ruth Armentrout Walker of Spencer, WV, and the late Forrest Armentrout.

Brenda excelled as an artist and musician. She went on to start her own successful hair salon, the Cutting Edge in Point Pleasant, WV. She was a devoted mother and a constant encourager. She worked as the office manager at Bernie's Auto Repair, Tunkhannock. She loved her cats, gardening, knitting and music. She was an avid baker and delighted many with her Christmas cookies each year.

She married Bernard Scranta, Sr., in 2002 and considered him to be her soul mate. She found daily joy in her marriage.

Most of all, she loved the Lord. She meditated often on her favorite Biblical passage, Philippians 4:6-8, and faithfully attended Eaton Baptist Church, where she played her flute and enjoyed weekly fellowship. She now rejoices in eternal fellowship with her Savior.

In addition to her mother and husband, survivors include her son, Cory Surface; daughter, Shayla Surface; two stepchildren, Bernard Scranta Jr. and wife, Sarah; Kristina Williams and husband, Donald Jr.; sister, Helen Paxton and husband, Randall; two brothers, David Armentrout and wife, Teresa; Danny Armentrout and wife, Becky; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her father, she also was preceded in death by her stepfather, Jack Walker.

There will be a visitation for family and friends Monday, March 1, 2010, from 5 to 7 p.m. in Eaton Baptist Church, Eatonville, PA.

A funeral service will be held Wednesday, March 3, 2010, at 11:00 a.m. in the John H. Taylor Funeral Home, Spencer, WV, with the Rev. Charles L. Davis officiating. Burial will be in the Looney Cemetery, Walton, WV.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday.

Condolences may be sent online to taylorfuneralhomeinc.com
