CLAY PUBLISHER REALLY ANGERS SHERIFF

(02/27/2010)
Clay County newspaperman Andy Waddell has angered Clay sheriff Randy Holcomb, by publishing a story about Waddell mistakenly getting a piece of mail addressed to Holcomb, a monthly statement from Victoria's Secret.

Waddell placed a photo of the unopened monthly statement on his web site, and returned the pink envelope to the post office.

"The sheriff is more than miffed," said the publisher of the Clay Communicator, whose reporting style has been called "free spirited."

Waddell says the sheriff came to his office, issuing "a big blast of potty mouth," knocking down a wooden rack and slamming a door so hard, plastic blind parts fell to the floor.

A witness confirmed Holcomb's behavior, the Sheriff said "You dirty SOB, you crossed the line this time ... I should probably take you out ..."

Waddell said he was fearful of the law officer, but remained seated on a couch, asking Holcomb, "Anything else?"
