UPDATED: SPENCER MAN DIES IN CRASH WITH TRUCK

A 61-year-old Spencer man has died from injuries he received in a two-vehicle accident on US 119, a short distance from Spencer on the Charleston Road. He has been identified as Robert Alan Brant of Island Run, a rural area near Spencer. Brant was dead at the scene. The fatal crash happened near Dave's Auto Ranch, Friday afternoon, with the Roane County Emergency Squad and the Spencer-Roane VFD responding to the accident scene. The accident involved a large commercial truck and the victim's car. Authorities have indicated the victim went left of center, striking the truck. Lt. Jeff Smith of the Roane County Sheriff's Department said the other driver was taken to the hospital, but that person's injuries did not appear to be serious. Funeral arrangements for Mr. Brant will be completed at the John H. Taylor Funeral Home in Spencer.
