SCHOOL BOARD EXPELS STUDENT - Update On School Security

(02/13/2010)
The Calhoun Board of Education conducted an expulsion hearing this week, and expelled a student from Calhoun Schools for a period of 45 days with credit for the 10 day suspension previously imposed.

During the time of of the male student's expulsion, he will not be allowed on school property for any reason other than to attend the Alternative Learning Center at Calhoun-Gilmer Career Center.

The student is required to submit certified results of a drug test prior to re-enrollment at Calhoun High School.

Frank Tetrick reported that construction crews had begun their 1st evening shift at Pleasant Hill Elementary, to continue the repairs to the building.

The work is planned to end prior to the start of School Year 2011, but contingencies could affect that date, Tetrick said.

Tetrick also reported that training had been accomplished for the production of ID cards for the school system's new security entrances.

He said the IDs will be used by employees to access the buildings after activation of the automated security systems at all county schools.

The board approved a reorganization of the Central Office administration.
