Dr. Lynn Gilbert of the Minnie Hamilton Health System-Dental Office is pleased to announce a free sealant program will be offered in Calhoun elementary schools.

Dental sealants (also known as "tooth sealants") can play an important role in helping to prevent tooth decay and cavities in some locations on teeth.

The placement of dental sealants involves your dentist bonding a plastic coating into the grooves of your tooth. The net result is a smoother tooth surface, one which is less likely to trap food and plaque and one which is easier to clean with your toothbrush.

Dr. Gilbert and her staff will be spending time at each elementary school to offer the program to 2nd grade students. This will require a signed permission slip which will be sent home through the school.

The program will be at Arnoldsburg School this month and Pleasant Hill Elementary in March.

Please watch for more information in your child's book bag. The program is paid in part by a grant through the ARC/Benedum School-Community Partnerships for Children's Oral Health.
