Holly Ray Chapman, 59, of Newton, West Virginia, died Sunday, February 7, 2010, at his home.

He was born June 15, 1950, at Newton, a son of Hester Gladys Drake Chapman of Newton and the late Howard Lewis Chapman.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Harvey and Harlan Chapman; and a grandson, Christopher Caleb Chapman.

Holly was an active member of the Three Forks Community Association, Newton. He was a former Roane County deputy sheriff, a former employee of the Louie Glass Plant, Weston, a former truck driver for CRST, Cedar Rapids, Iowa and a carpenter.

In addition to his mother, survivors include two sons, Holly Keith Chapman of Weston and Christopher Shawn Chapman of Jane Lew; a daughter, Stacy Leigh Chapman of Buckhannon; seven grandchildren, David Cory Chapman, Kenda Nicole Chapman, Madison Paige Chapman, Chayten Shawn Chapman, Mason Ray Chapman, Chasity Brianna Shipman and John Michael "Mikey" Shipman; girlfriend, Nina Carter of Clendenin; a brother, Harold Lee Chapman of Amma; six sisters, Wanda Jefferys of London, Ohio, Barbara Nottingham of Temperance, Mich., Ann Shaw of Barberton, Ohio, Wilma Benson and Leona McCabe both of Akron, Ohio and Amy Cronin of Spencer.

A funeral service will be held Saturday, February 13 at 2:00 p.m. in the Newton Baptist Church, Newton, with the Rev. Ron Fisher officiating. Burial will be in the Chapman Cemetery, Newton.

Friends may call Friday from 6-8 p.m. at the John H. Taylor Funeral Home, Spencer.
