NEMITZ WITHDRAWS SCHOOL BOARD CANDIDACY

(02/09/2010)
A candidate for Calhoun Board of Education has withdrawn from the race because of requirements.

Dottie Nemitz issued a letter to the public regarding the matter:

To the Citizens of Calhoun County:

I recently filed to run for a position on the Calhoun County Board of Education.

Unfortunately, I have just learned that a new legislation passed in 2009, prohibits me from being a candidate while being employed by the Board of Education.

Previously, one could run for the office as long as their resignation would be effective before they were sworn in for office.

I am truly sorry for this oversight and I am withdrawing my name as a candidate for the Board of Education.

I am grateful to those who voiced their support, especially my "campaign manager," Josie Montgomery.

Best wishes to the remaining candidates.

Sincerely,
Dotti Nemitz
