CRITTER DINNER SLOWED BY SNOWSTORM - "Big Ol' Groundhog, Greasy And Fat"

(02/08/2010)

The 19th annual Bear Fork Hunt Club Critter Dinner undoubtedly had the smallest attendance ever, with a major snow storm sweeping across the area and a number of the members without electric.

"I guess the die-hards got here," said President Charles McKown.

The Bear Fork Hunt club has deep roots going back over 100 years to a primitive section of woods located in three counties.

Saturday night's guests enjoyed the dinner, although the musicians canceled. The meal included bear and rattlesnake meat.

The menu read:

"Big ol' groundhog, greasy and fat,
Polecats thighs, rattlesnakes eyes,
Is this a hot dog, or a muskrat?"
