A country road less traveled

The latest snowstorm to hit Calhoun and the region dumped 5-9 inches of snow, with parts of eastern WV receiving 30 inches.

Several localized power outages happened in Calhoun, and some areas are still without power Saturday night.

The highway department worked throughout Friday night and Saturday morning to clear the main highways.

A tree fell through a mobile home on Road Fork off White Pine Rd. at 12:45 p.m. Saturday, rupturing the roof to the living room of the dwelling.

At home was Jay Nichols, 74, and his wife Mary. He has been suffering from chronic illness, and was taken to Minnie Hamilton Health System.

The Grantsville VFD and Calhoun EMS responded to the incident.

The Nichols' have been advised not to return to their residence until repairs are made.
