CMS BOYS WIN ONE OF TWO AT CLAY

Calhoun Middle School Boys basketball team traveled to Clay Thursday to battle the Mustangs.

In the B game Calhoun found themselves in a dogfight as the Clay County squad came ready to play, taking it right to the Devils in the first and second periods to grab a two point lead at the half 13 to eleven.

In the second half, Calhoun played with a little more determination and outscored Clay in the final two periods 20 to 13 to take a hard fought 31 to 26 win.

Leading in scoring were, Tyler Gerwig and Tyler Tanner with 11 and 8 points, Sam Brady and Tyler Sims with 5 points and Kirkland Allen with 2. Playing but not scoring were, Lucas Wilson, Luke Sheldon, William Baker, Devon McKown, Eythan Miller, Riley Cain, Cole Boatright, and Austin Gribble.

In the A game Calhoun played hard, but the bigger, stronger Mustangs jumped out to a 28 to 9 halftime lead.

The Red Devils tried to battle back by playing inspired ball in the second half but came up short by a 23 to 46 margin.

Scoring for Calhoun were, Mason Sheldon 6 points, Logan Moore 5 points, Kameron Carder 2 points, Tyler Sims 3 points, Tyler Gerwig 1 point, Lucas Wilson 4 points and Sam Brady 2 points.
