UPDATE: FLOOD AND WINTER STORM WARNINGS ISSUED FOR CALHOUN AND REGION

FLOOD WARNING: The National Weather Service in Charleston has issued a flood warning for Calhoun County including the city of Grantsville until 10:30 p.m. Friday.

The warning also includes Gilmer County and the city of Glenville, northeastern Jackson County, southern Ritchie County, northern Roane County including the city of Spencer, Wirt County including the city of Elizabeth, and Wood County.

Many streams in the warned area were bank-full with some starting to come out of their banks at 6:30 p.m.

With one half inch additional rainfall through this evening...more streams are likely to come out of their banks...some flooding roadways. Temperatures are likely to remain above freezing through this evening in the warned area...before dropping later tonight.

A Flood Warning means that flooding is imminent or has been reported. All interested parties should take necessary precautions immediately.

WINTER STORM WARNING: The National Weather Service in Charleston has issued a Winter Storm Warning for snow...in effect until 7 p.m. Saturday.

A low pressure system will slowly move across the area through Saturday. Tonight...colder air will rush back into the area at all levels...changing any mixed precipitation to snow. Snow will continue tonight through Saturday before tapering off to snow showers Saturday evening.

Total snow accumulations by Saturday evening will range from 5 to 10 inches. This will be a heavy wet snow...capable of bringing down tree limbs and causing power outages.
