CANDIDATES SET FOR MAY 11 PRIMARY - Johnson Withdraws, Two Board Candidates Already "Winners"

The line-up for the May 11th Primary Election is complete.

Calhoun commission candidate Shari Johnson filed papers Wednesday to withdraw from the race, citing conflict of interest problems related to her job with a state alcohol and drug grant prevention program.

That leaves incumbent Bob Weaver (Lee District) and Kathreen Wood (Center District) on the ballot, both Democrats.

Looking at district requirements for the school board race, two of the candidates for school board are "winners" before the election is held - Marvin "Mike" Wilson (Lee District) and Faye Barnhart (Center District).

The third school board seat is in contention between Dottie Nemitz (Sherman District); Steve Whited (Sheridan District); Michael Yeager (Sherman District).

The most contentious race is for County Clerk, with the retirement of longtime clerk Richard Kirby, four Democrats have filed.

is opposing incumbent David Walker (Democrat) of Clay.

CIRCUIT CLERK - Longtime Circuit Clerk Shelia Garretson
(Center District) a Democrat, is unopposed for that office.
