AUTHORITIES INVESTIGATING LIGNETICS PLANT FIRE IN GILMER CO.

(02/03/2010)
Officials are continuing an investigation of a fire at a Gilmer county plant last Friday evening.

Fire crews responded to a call at the Lignetics Factory on Rt. 5, east of Glenville.

The fire reportedly started in a silo and was mostly contained to that area.

No cause has been given for the fire.

Firemen said the wood pellets inside the silo will be unusable because of the smoke and water damage.

The plant has had other fires, one in 2006 and one in 2001 in which three plant workers received burns, with two of them sent to the Pittsburgh Burn Center.
