UPDATE: ROANE COUNTY GRAND JURY INDICTS PRIEST FOR MOLESTATION

(02/02/2010)
A priest has been indicted by a Roane County grand jury, after a 28-year-old man claimed he was molested at the Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in 1991 when he was 10.

The initial press release is not clear regarding the priest's status, when the alledged incident happened.

He was apparently in Spencer on a temporary mission, and brought the youth with him from Ohio.

The victim has accused Father Robert F. Poandl (left) of the Cincinnati Ohio area, of molesting him nearly 20 years ago.

Poandal, according to a church web site, is attached to Glenmary Home Missioners to Rural America in Fairfield, Ohio.

The WV State Police said the victim alleges that Father Poandl sexually molested him during a trip to Spencer when he was 10 years old.

The indictment includes counts of first-degree sexual abuse, first-degree sexual assault and sexual abuse by a custodian, according to the State Police.
