CLAY SCHOOLS FINED AFTER FAILURE TO MAKE INSPECTIONS

(01/29/2010)
The Clay county school system has been fined $5,000 by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency over their failure to make asbestos inspections at a local school.

The EPA says the fine amount was reached through a settlement.

The EPA says the school district failed to inspect areas that contain asbestos at Lizemore School every three years.

The state Department of Health and Human Resources turned up the violation during an inspection in 2007.
