So sorry that Boots King has been through such an experience with her mother. She has been in the Beckley area for weeks going to a nursing home and then to a hospital were they had to take part of one of her mother's leg off. Her mother was 88 or 89. Boots' brother took turns staying with her and she just didn't make it. Blaine King explained what was going on and we certainly understand how it feels. I'm so sorry Boots I know how you feel.

Richard and Emma Lou Chenowith came down from Ohio to their farm, the old Denver Chenowith farm on Nicut, and stayed Wednesday through Sunday.

Charles Haverty brought me a fresh loaf of bread that he had made. It was still warm. Our friends Henry and Jeanie Hawk was here at the time. It was wonderful!

Snowed this morning and I saw a hawk fly and land on what's left of a locust tree here in the bottom, it flew down on the ground to catch something and was back on the tree in seconds. Wonder what it was. I love seeing things like that.

Blaine and I are wondering how his son Kenny is doing, so Kenny call your dad.

My new cat, Kit, was in my room at 3:30 in the morning and was making a different sound. I turned the light on and she was after something behind some old quilts I had stacked up in the corner. She was having trouble so I got up and moved them away from the wall just a little bit. She flushed out a pretty little flying squirrel. It was black and white. Kit played with that thing for a good 20-30 minutes. Cat's are like killer whales and play with their prey before the kill. My daughter Heather asked, "Why didn't you save it?" I told her I was not to interfere with the nature of a cat. Kit ate it. Good girl.

Wednesday, January 27th Mars makes it's closet approach of the year. Turn to the east to watch at sunset above the horizon. The red planet is at it's brightest this month. Exactly two nights later, on the 29th, Mars is opposite the sun and will light up in the night sky. Highest at midnight Mars outshines every star except Blue Sirius. January will end with the year's nearest moon - a full moon, to boot. This moon is called the Full Wolf Moon, where wolves would howl in hunger.

My grandson Tyler has spent a few days with me and also he stayed with Henry and Jeanie a few days helping out with carrying wood and keeping the stove full, and helping Jeanie carry water. They really appreciated him. He's a good boy.

Times are a little rough right now for me and I'm hoping that I will be able to keep a phone and the Internet service. If you don't get the Chloe News I'll be back one of these days. Don't give up on me.

Thank you and have a wonderful week!
