SAMPSON FILES FOR COUNTY CLERK - Barnhart Files For School Board

Former Calhoun commissioner Rick Sampson has filed for County Clerk, facing candidates Mike Ritchie, Director of the Calhoun County Committee on Aging, and 8-year deputy clerk Connie Smith.

The position is open with the retirement of long-time clerk Richard Kirby.

Filing Monday for Board of Education is Faye Barnhart. Three other candidates have filed, Mike Wilson, Mike Yeager and Steve Whited.

Calhoun resident Ron Blankenship, long-time school administrator, is opposing incumbent David Walker of Clay for House of Delegates.

Blankenship lost to Walker by 15 votes last cycle, with a field of candidates splitting the vote.

Longtime Circuit Clerk Shelia Garretson is seeking another term, so far with no opponent.

Shari Johnson, former magistrate clerk and PRIDE team coordinator, is opposing incumbent Bob Weaver, former administrator, businessman and editor of Hur Herald, for Calhoun commissioner.

Richard "Burl" Postalwait and Shirley Ball have filed for the Democrat Executive Committee.

January 30th is the last day to file.
