PLEASANT HILL ELEMENTARY NEWS - School Collecting Coins For Haiti Relief

(01/26/2010)
By Amber Price

In an on-going effort to teach our children about the importance of caring and helping others in need, Pleasant Hill School has organized a coin collection week at PHE to donate toward relief efforts in Haiti.

Coins will be collected beginning Monday, January 25th through Friday, January 29th.

Please encourage your child to look under couch cushions and other hiding places where there might be loose change. They are encouraged to bring their change to school to turn in for the relief effort for Haiti. Encouraging them to do some chores for change to donate is another great way to get your child involved.

There will be a container in the office for staff, parents, and community members to contribute to. So if you'd like to donate some change to Pleasant Hill Elementary for the Haiti Relief fund, please stop by the office to add your coin.

It will be exciting to see how much Pleasant Hill Elementary can raise for the relief effort for Haiti. Each classroom will have a container to put their coins in so the class can watch their money "grow" throughout the week. We will post on our school website the final tally of the school's total collection.

Also, on Friday, January 29th, half of all snack sales will be contributed to the fund.

Mrs. Bunch's first grade class wins pizza party

Pleasant Hill Elementary School collected 323 + non- perishable food items for the First Baptist Food Pantry in Grantsville. We started collected items Monday December 14th through Friday, December 18th. The class that collected the most items won a pizza party, thanks to the PTO. Mrs. Bunch's first grade was the winner of the pizza party. We would like to thank everyone who helped with this worthy cause.

Calhoun Schools will operate on a 2 hour delay Wednesday, January 27.

Report cards will be going home on January 28 (delayed because of snow days)
