Fourth grade students recently took the Math Field Day Test. The top three winners from AES were Roby Farmer, Hayes Vineyard, and Lillith Nuzum. They are now in the running for the opportunity to compete at the County Math Field Day.

First through fourth grade students are participating in the West Virginia Young Writers Contest. County winners will receive certificates and, along with their teachers, will be invited to the University of Charleston for a celebration and lunch. State winners will receive $50 for first place, $25 for second place, and $10 for third place.

Fourth grade students are working on projects for the Social Studies Fair, which will take place toward the end of February. County winners will have the opportunity to participate at the State Social Studies Fair which will be held in April.

Report cards are scheduled to go home on January 28th.

February 3rd - Picture Retakes

February 5th - Book Swap sponsored by Title 1 teachers - Students will be able to bring in gently used children's books that they have outgrown or lost interest in and trade for other used books. Permission slips and further details will be sent home with students. If you have children's books you would like to donate, please contact Title 1 teachers, Tami Allen or Shirley Chenoweth at the school (304-655-8618). Books that are left over will be donated to the school library.
