(03/08/2002)

Log truck collides with auto, overturns

An empty log truck hit the rear end of a car, struck a hillside and turned over on Route 16, north of Orma Friday afternoon. The woman driver of the auto was taken to the hospital by Calhoun EMS for evaluation, reportedly with minimal injuries. Both vehicles were traveling north on Rt. 16 near the Brannon Straight.

Deputy Sheriff Ron Bandy is investigating the accident.

The driver of the auto had apparently slowed down or stopped for Department of Highway mowing machines when the log truck came around the turn. The driver of the log truck, according to emergency personnel, attempted to avoid rear-ending the auto and drove toward the hillside, turning over.

Calhoun EMS and the Arnoldsburg VFD responded to the accident.
