Welcome back to Beason. The land that contained no water or electric for four eternal days. That was great, wasn't it? I know I enjoyed it. I love the holiday season and I always throw myself into them. After those four days, I just totally lost the spirit. I guess something about throwing everything away in the refrigerator really dampens one's spirit.

Happy Birthday goes out to Mike Taylor. I believe he is 25 this year. Okay, well, maybe 26. Happy Birthday also goes out to A.M. She will be 30 (again) this year. Don't tell anyone it's my sister, OK?

The kids and I enjoyed the snow storm before the "blackout" occurred. We got the sleds and snowboard out. Of course, I'm not saying I was a master at snowboarding, but, sure had a great time trying it out. It's funny that about 5 or so years ago I wouldn't even consider getting on a snowboard. I was very inhibited about a lot of things during that time period. Now, the inhibitions are peeling away one by one. I don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing, but, I'm just going to roll with it as long as I can handle it.

The kids had a great Christmas. I think they dubbed it. "The best Christmas ever". My oldest son got an electric guitar. We just call him "Slash" now. (For all you old-schoolers, you know who Slash is) I'm really hoping I will not regret that purchase. So far, I am impressed with all the effort he has put into it. My youngest one mostly got DS games and baseball stuff. His whole world is centered on baseball. He is determined to bench Jason Bay when he grows up. So, if there are any talent scouts out there, Avery is the one to watch for a future Pittsburgh Pirates team. My favorite thing the kids got was a GuitarMania game for the PlayStation 2. Mom, of course, had to get in on the action. I guess I will always be rocker wanna-be. Everybody remembers Joan Jett and Debbie Harry, right? They were some cool chicks.

I did a lot of baking over the holidays, but, didn't get the chance to try the recipe I had for biscotti. I am pretty sure I wouldn't have done it right. My sister is the one married to an Italian and has become the master of all things ending in "otti".

Are you excited about the New Year? For once, I am. I have decided to call this year, "KATHY: The Revenge". I figure if Twilight and Star Wars can have sequels, why shouldn't I? I am embarking on a few new things this year; so, I am anticipating a much better year.

I would like everyone to know that our shop in Harrisville is still open and doing well. We are one stylist less, but, are still offering top quality services. We are hoping to add a nail tech sometime in February (if all goes according to plan). So, it is going to be your one stop shop for all your beauty needs.

I chose to almost end my article with a line from the movie, "Cast Away". It is as follows, "I will keep breathing, for the sun will rise tomorrow and you never know what the tide might bring in." Just a little something to think about.

Happy New Year to all. I hope 2010 brings you much happiness. Please remember to be responsible while ringing in the New Year.
