MULTI-COUNTY POLICE CHASE FROM GILMER TO WOOD

(01/02/2010)
Wood County 911 dispatchers said the driver of a vehicle who led officers on a chase from Gilmer to Wood County, was arrested early Sunday morning on Rt. 47.

Calhoun authorities were advised at 11 p.m. that the fleeing driver was traveling Rt. 5 west toward Calhoun, but then took another route to State Route 47.

Dispatchers said the vehicle was stopped after officers put spikes on Route 47 near River Road.

The spikes deflated the tires, and the vehicle hit a guard rail.

Police have not released the reason for the chase or the the driver's name.

The Gilmer County Sheriff's Office, Glenville Police, West Virginia State Police, and Wood County Sheriff's Office responded to the incident.
