Oleta M. Dye, 90 - Spencer

Oleta M. Dye, 90, of Spencer, West Virginia, passed away Dec. 24, 2009, at her home.

She was born November 17, 1919, in Calhoun County, a daughter of the late Wattie A. and Bertha Frederick Burrows. She was a retired employee of Spencer State Hospital with 20 years service. She was an active and dedicated member of the Hillcrest Baptist Church at Spencer and was a member of the Rebecca Lodge of Spencer where she has served as Chaplain and was a Past Worthy Grand Matron.

Surviving are two sons, Robert Dye and his wife Garnet of Bridgeport and Richard Dye of Cairo; four daughters, Melba Starcher and her husband Kenny and Karen Nichols and her husband Eddie, all of Spencer, Phyllis Deel of Washington, WV, and Patricia Starcher and her husband Fred of Parkersburg; one brother, Myrul Burrows and his wife Jean of Cochranton, PA; two sisters, Juanita Hefler of Parkersburg and Reva Hanshaw of Hinton; 14 grandchildren including her caregiver, Margie Starcher; 23 great grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dale Dye; a son-in-law, Roger Deel; brothers, Thurl, Byrul, Clifford, Gerald and Earl; and sisters, Virginia, Geneva and Leota.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Stump Funeral Home in Arnoldsburg. The Rev. Barry Miller will officiate. Interment will be in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Grantsville.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 2-8 p.m. Monday and from 9 a.m. until the time of the services Tuesday.
