James R. Bower, 66 - Vienna

James R. Bower, 66, of Vienna, West Virginia, passed away at Camden Clark Memorial Hospital Sunday, December 20, 2009 after a short illness.

He was born on May 2, 1943, in Calhoun County, the son of the late James and Audrey Kendal Bower.

He served in the US Army and retired from DuPont after 20 years of service. He enjoyed reading, hunting, fishing, watching NASCAR and football.

He is survived by one son, Michael James Bower of Mineral Wells, WV; two grandsons, James Michael and Timothy Mitchell Bower, of Walker WV; two sisters, Delores Germalea Fortney of Waxhaw, N.C., and Kathy (Jerry) Hopkins of Elizabeth, WV; a brother, Jerry (Lisa) Bower of Parkersburg WV; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death a sister, Doris Norma Lea Cain.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, December 23 at Matheny Whited Funeral Home of Elizabeth with the Rev. Alfred Hickman officiating.

Visitation will be Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. and from 9 a.m. until time of the service on Wednesday. Interment will be at K of P Cemetery of Elizabeth.
