SEARCH RESUMES IN GILMER COUNTY FOR MISSING MAN

(12/16/2009)
Gilmer County authorities and volunteers will continue a search Wednesday for a 29-year-old Charleston man who has been missing since last Thursday night.

Officials, firemen and volunteers will meet at 8 a.m. Wednesday at the Gilmer County VFD to continue the search.

Officials have indicated they might have new leads.

Basil Fred Hill was last seen Thursday at Trezan's Restaurant Bar and Grill in Glenville, where he was reportedly ordered out of the bar.

Hill was doing contract work for a local gas company in the Glenville area.

Much of the search has been along the Little Kanawha River, west of Glenville along Rt. 5.

Police have used cadaver dogs, a sonar-equipped boat and a chopper to look for the man.

Authorities have not ruled out foul play.

Hill is approximately 5'7", weighs around 140 pounds and has curly brown shoulder-length hair. He was last seen wearing dark-tan Carhart suspenders and a green sweatshirt. Hill was working in Glenville. (See photo earlier Herald story)
