Brooks R. Conley, 86 - Newton

Brooks R. Conley, 86, a life long resident of Newton, West Virginia, died Sunday, December 13, 2009, after an extended illness.

He was born June 21, 1923, at Uler, Roane County, a son of the late Edward and Bessie Hunt Conley. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Elwanda M. Conley; son, Gary Brooks Conley; grandson, Robert A. Conley, II; nine brothers, Clyde, William George, Darius, Howard, Spencer, Harold, Jennings, Eugene and Lawrence; sister, Geneva Miller.

Brooks was a retired employee of Union Carbide Corporation, Alloy, WV, a Christian and an Army veteran of World War II.

Survivors include his children, Margaret A. Hines of Brooksville, FL, Barbara K. McClain, Robert A. Conley and Marilyn J. Conley all of Newton; seven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren; two brothers, Roy of Mogadore, OH and Charles of Richmond, VA; many friends, neighbors and loved ones.

Service will be held Wednesday, December 16 at 1:00 p.m. in the John H. Taylor Funeral Home, Spencer, with Pastor Gary Drake officiating. Burial will be in the Zion Hill Cemetery, Elana.

Friends may call two hours prior to the funeral service at the funeral home.
