WV'S PRE-K STUDENTS WILL HAVE MEALS IN 2010

(12/15/2009)
Pre-kindergarten programs in West Virginia will be required to offer children one daily meal beginning in the fall of 2010.

The state Board of Education has just approved the requirement, which applies to both school-based programs and programs operated by churches or day care centers.

The programs must offer either breakfast or lunch.

Free or reduced-priced meals will be offered to children who would qualify for them in elementary or middle schools.
