Rev. Carlos Nutter filled his regular appointment at the Burning Springs M. E. Church.

The Creston Community Christmas Party is scheduled for Saturday, December 19 at the Community Building starting at 6 P. M. There will be a meal and all are invited. A jolly gentleman from the Polar Region is expected to provide special items for the younger set.

A number of Creston residents attended the Christmas parade in Elizabeth which had numerous entries and a large crowd to watch. Jane Engelke was the MC at the Parkersburg Christmas parade.

Larry Hall from Illinois & associate have been spending some time at his place at the mouth of Little Creek - the site of the old Kirby house.

Kevin "Weasel" Wease was attending to business in Elizabeth.

Prominent oilman Bill Whited was attending to business in Creston.

Brandon Ferrell spent the weekend visiting Mr. & Mrs. Carl Ferrell & Jeremy.

W. H. Schenerlein III & IV were calling on Charles & Euell Russell.

The Creston area has received rain, snow, icy roads & bridges and some high water. The road up around the river (Woodring Road) and Ann's Run Road were among those covered by high water, at least for a time.

On Friday which, at that point, had been the coldest day of the season, Dominion (Mother Hope) called to advise that there was a glut of gas on their system and that compressors had to be shut down. Later in the day the order was rescinded. For the first time that anyone can remember there is now to be curtailments of gas production in winter time, perhaps reflecting the continuing economic decline. As one fellow said, "Hope & change has now become hoax & chains."

Dominion is going to hold meetings on December 15 & 17 to explain the new regime. Apparently one can buy "intermediate firm transport for 5 cents/dekatherm to "assure" better deliverability. This is in addition to the FT (firm transport) of 50 cents/dekatherm which is to kick in circa 2012. When gas fell to below $3/dth the percentage for "firm transport", which, by the way, is also charged to end users, would be substantial.

One Brooksville oilman understood that there would be rotating one month shut-ins.

The price of local Pennsylvania grade crude oil fell $2/bbl to $63.50.

While many have worries about employment and higher taxes, federal employees don't have that problem. The average wage for government workers is $71,000/annum and if Omabacare passes there will be 125 new federal agencies that will need workers. Apparently these new agencies are "needed" to control health care, determine who will receive treatments and what private citizens, insurance companies, etc can do and likely will enforce "mandatory insurance" vs. jail terms legislation & whatever else is slipped into "health care reform". Even the federal government noted that the proposed legislation will increase, not lower, health costs. Before the federal government got into the health care business, health insurance was affordable and there were many companies and healthy competition. Washington beaurocrats who have wanted socialized medicine (& the power & authority that goes with such) have been busy doing all they could to "create a crisis" with health care.

Some congress critters were apparently leery of passing cap & tax for fear they would lose their positions and lifestyle so the EPA just ruled that carbon dioxide (CO2) is a pollutant. This gives them the power now to regulate everything including how much we breathe. This was done to coincide with the big global warming hoax meeting in Copenhagen. All this is being done even though the word is out on the hoax of "global warming". The high priest, Albert Gore, Jr. dismissed the thousands of documents showing how the fraud was done but of course he has already made hundreds of millions of dollars and others look to make billions with the fraud. While newspapers in America are ignoring the story it is being covered elsewhere in the world, especially in places where the present global cooling is a matter of concern such as the higher latitudes.

One should always remember that the limiting growth factor for a cornfield on a still day is CO2.

In the 'famous' hockey stick graph which, apparently is taught as gospel in schools, ignores the medieval warm period when Vikings farmed in Greenland and also the tree ring data after 1961 was deleted as "it didn't fit the template". Also it was learned that real temperatures were "adjusted" to make 1998 warmer than 1934, the warmest recorded year since thermometers were invented.

It was reported that a 55 lb beaver was trapped below Creston. The price of fur remains low even though the use of fur, instead of synthetics would be "green" to use the PC lingo. Apparently the animal rights agenda trumps "ecological choices". Perhaps those folks could eat plastic.
