BERNARD WYATT IS OFFICIAL MEMBER OF ORDER OF 35TH STAR - Vet Of Two Wars Honored

Former Rocksdale native 86-year-old Bernard Leon Wyatt received special recognition last night at a dinner held at VFW Post 5959 in Grantsville.

Del. David Walker presented Wyatt, a veteran of World War II and the Korean War, with the Governor's 35th Star Award.

Wyatt enlisted in the US Army during World War II, serving under General George S. Patton in France and Germany.

He was injured while serving with distinction in the line of duty.

He worked in West Virginia's oil fields, was the operator of a towing company in Spencer, and worked for the State Road Commission.

Del. Walker presented the recognition on behalf of Gov. Joe Manchin, declaring Wyatt an official member of the Order of the 35th Star.
