WEST UNION WANTS ANSWERS FROM DEP OVER ORANGE GEL

(12/09/2009)
Four months have gone by since a spill left two inches of an orange gel substance on a Doddridge County stream known as Buckeye Run.

Authorities in West Union have yet to learn about the nature of the spill.

Tapo Energy of West Union was issued a citation, after a cleanup crew vacuumed 2,500 gallons of the gel.

West Union officials didn't learn about the spill until October, months later.

Duane Reynolds, operator of the West Union's water treatment plant, says he's still waiting for the Department of Environmental Protection to say what caused it.

DEP oil and gas administrator James Martin says his agency is still investigating.

Reynolds has expressed concern why he wasn't notified of the spill.
