Gregory D. Whited, 47 - Mineral Wells

Gregory D. Whited, 47, of Mineral Wells, West Virginia, passed away in Elizabeth, WV December 6, 2009 after a 2 ½ year battle with cancer surrounded by his family.

He was born January 6, 1962 in Wood County, the son of the late Charles L. Whited and Garnet Ashby Whited of Elizabeth.

He was a 1980 graduate of Wirt County High School.

He served in the US Army from December 4, 1980 to January 24, 1986, and was a truck driver for several years and later opened his own business, Whited Trucking Inc. from 1999-2007.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time with his friends and family.

In addition to his mother he is survived by a daughter, Maegan E. Whited of Ravenswood; son, Charles G. Whited of Burning Springs; 3 brothers, Donald (Kim) Whited, Mike (Chris) Whited, Terry (Luann Frazier) Whited all of Elizabeth; 2 sisters, Teresa Pettry of Ohio, and Sherry (Jeff) Salsbury of Elizabeth; special friend, Brenda Hyatt of Mineral Wells; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his father he was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Lloyd "Pete" Pettry and several aunts and uncles.

Services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, December 9 at Matheny Whited Funeral Home of Elizabeth. Reverends Dean Ash, Robert Watkins and Timothy Hopkins will officiate. Burial will be in Two Runs Cemetery, Palestine.

Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. Tuesday and from 9 a.m. until time of services Wednesday.

Memorial donations may be made to Wirt Youth Wrestling or Wirt Youth Football.
