The race was on at the First Baptist Church in Grantsville last night - the official Cub Scout Pinewood Derby. Local Pack #436 had nineteen kids enter their cars, with the winners going to Parkersburg Saturday for the regional derby, with hundreds of cub scouts participating. That event will be at the Grand Central Mall at 2 p.m.

First place went to Ben Sims, son of Mark and Angela Sims of Big Bend. Second place went to Dillon Richards, son of Michael and Michelle Richards of Big Springs. Third place went to Elijah Dye, son of Pat and Angela Dye of Big Bend.

Last night Tim Moore was the official record keeper, Randy and Caleb Ball, the judges, and cub master Paul Funk was the man who "ran the race." The scouts had a hoot.
