Glenville State College's Pioneers held their own until late in the second half in the home opener Tuesday night against West Virginia State University.

With just over 8 minutes left in the second half Glenville took the lead 53-51.

Then, as if someone turned out the lights, for the next seven minutes State outscored them 26-9.

GSC only shot 36-percent from the floor, and hit just 23-percent of their 3-point attempts.

Marcus Catney paced the Pioneers with 22-points; Ryan Burts chipped in 11.

WV State's Darren Jones led all scorers with 33-points.
