BERDINE WITHDRAWS FROM BOARD RACE - School Board Candidates Scarce

An Incumbent candidate for Calhoun County Board of Education has withdrawn from the race, according to Calhoun Circuit Clerk Shelia Garretson. Juanita Berdine of Arnoldsburg will not seek reelection, leaving a field of four candidates for three seats. Candidates appeared scarce in Calhoun until the deadline. On the ballot, incumbents Rick Fitzwater and Carlene Frederick, and newcomers Don Harris of Grantsville and Loretta Holbert of Big Bend. Roane County lacked candidates at the conclusion of the filing period, but two residents have now filed to be write-ins.
