GILMER WOMAN'S DEATH RELATED TO SWINE FLU/H1N1

A Glenville funeral home is reporting a death related to H1N1/Swine Flu.

Ellyson Mortuary says well-known Gilmer educator Sharon Ann "Sherry" Burke, 44, of Sand Fork has died in Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown following a brief illness caused by H1N1/Swine Flu virus.

Burke obtained her undergraduate degree from Glenville State College and a master's from WVU, and was a special education teacher in Gilmer County for 18 years serving students in both Troy and Sand Fork Elementary Schools.

A memorial tribute will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 21, at Sand Fork Baptist Church with Preacher Phil Wilson, the Rev. Kenny Fisher and Pastor Bryan Groves officiating.

The family has established a scholarship fund in Sherry's honor. Donations to the scholarship fund may be made to "Sherry Burke Scholarship Fund," P.O. Box 211, Sand Fork, WV 26430.
