RECORD NUMBER ATTENDING WV COLLEGES - Graduation Rate Not Impressive, Many Institutions Only 20%

(11/18/2009)
State officials announced yesterday there is record enrollment in the state's colleges and universities.

Glenville State's enrollment is up more than 19 percent.

The West Virginia Higher Education Policy Commission says that for the first time in state history total enrollment has topped 90,000 students.

The fall enrollment number is officially 93,712.

Graduation rates in WV are less impressive.

Many schools are only graduating 20 percent of their students.

While the Commission is impressed with the increase, the state's colleges and universities won't receive increased state funding.
