RECORD KILL EXPECTED FOR DEER SEASON

(11/17/2009)
West Virginia officials are predicting a good deer hunting season for 2009. Others are predicting a record kill.

Tens of thousands of hunters will take to the WV woods in search of a trophy buck or just some meat to fill the family freezer.

Calhoun appears to have a record deer population.

The bucks-only firearm season, which lasts two weeks, begins Thanksgiving week.

Deer season is also a major economic boost to the state.

DNR Director Frank Jezioro estimates that deer hunting brings in about $250 million every year.
