ROWELS RUN GATHERING SITE STUDIED FOR CLEAN-UP

(11/16/2009)

A former gathering-pump station located on Rowels Run, known as Cain Station, is being investigated for a possible clean-up, according to Shell Oil Products.

The site originally belonged to Eureka Pipeline and was later purchased by Pencil, and is located a short distance from the mouth of Rowels Run and the West Fork of the Little Kanawha River, near Cremo.

The location once had two above ground storage tanks and a crude oil pumping facility. The tanks and all equipment were removed in 2006.

The clean-up, according to a document released by Shell, is related to the protection of ground water.
