My grandson Tyler spent the weekend with me and mowed the yard with a push mower. I had fixed a working man's breakfast, bacon, eggs, and biscuits. He did a great job and it took him a long time to do it. Thanks to Blaine Postalwait for giving me the mower and thanks to Jimmy Tanner for taking me to Big Otter for the gas.

While Tyler was here he killed a possum on the front porch with a nearby shovel. As he was going out Saturday night the possum was on the porch and growling at him. He showed it to me the next morning. They are scary looking things.

Blaine King and I went to Spencer for supplies. He paid his car insurance and got my contacts. Blaine said that was my Christmas present and I'm so thankful. It's wonderful to see. I just can't stand wearing glasses. I lose them all over the house. I just never could stand to wear anything including jewelry. I do wear a watch when giving a perm.

Our new found friends here on the West Fork, Henry Hawk and his wife Genie have started their butchering for the season. Bubby Watkins had a white face Angus butchered on Saturday and it's hanging in the cooler for ten days along with three other peoples cows and more to do. Henry has been doing this sort of thing for many years and knows the business very well.

Buddy took Aunt Ree, the late Bill Watkins wife, to the doctor in Spencer. She fell on her frosty walk-way and might have a fracture but don't know quite yet. Hope that she'll be alright. Buddy is overrun with dogs lately as two of them have had eleven pups recently. He has Bluetick and Beagle.

I was visiting my friend Joe last weekend and he shot two squirrels for Buddy. The first one Joe said if he shot it I would go get it. When I got to the tree the squirrel was still alive and trying it's best to climb up the tree. I said, "Joe it's still alive and I'm not going to touch it". He came up and shot it with a pistol. Next he shot one out of a tree in the pond and it was hung up on a limb. We got in the boat and retrieved it. Buddy sure makes good squirrel gravy.

My daughter Heather is studying for nursing at home and has to have sixteen hours completed by January. So far she has A's, B's and a high C. She takes her tests at her husband Ben's school teacher's. Sounds to me like she's doing well but she's under a lot of stress with the kids and housework plus life in general.

Times are lean here. Hair business is slow. I have no TV now, but that's OK, as long as I have electric and a phone I can still be fine. Thank heaven for free gas! I'll continue to write the news as long as I have a phone. Thanks to Ruth Boyd for her e-mail. I haven't forgot you.

Everyone have a wonderful week!
