Effie L. Lockhart, 89 - Glenville

Effie L. Lockhart age 89, of Glenville, West Virginia, departed this life at 8:25 p.m. Friday October 23, 2009 at the Glenville Care and Rehab Center following an extended illness.

Born February 13, 1920 in Gilmer County, she was a daughter of the late Bill and Minerva McCullough Grady.

Effie was a homemaker and Methodist by faith. Before her illness she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, quilting, gardening, selling Avon, playing the card games Rook and Rummy, playing the guitar, yodeling, going to yard sales, playing bingo and square dancing.

She was united in marriage February 14, 1936 to William H. "Buck" Lockhart, who preceded her in death on April 16, 1962. She was also preceded by a special friend Byron Stalnaker.

Surviving are 2 sons and 2 daughters, Ernest Lockhart and wife Mary of Weston, Bob Lockhart and wife Opal of Cross Junction, VA., Brenda Lawson and husband Rick of Glenville, and Kathy Belmont and husband Ronnie of Inwood, WV. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; 1 step great granddaughter; and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Lockhart was preceded in death by 3 children, Donzel, Shirley, and Lorna Lockhart. Effie was also the last of her immediate family being preceded by 3 brothers, Clarence Wilson, Glenn and Harvey Grady; 1 sister Garnett Arbogast; 2 half sisters, Hallie Harris and Eula White; and 2 half brothers, Alpha and James McCullough.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday October 27, 2009 at Ellyson Mortuary Inc., Glenville with Pastor Alfred Hickman officiating. Burial will follow in the Rock Grove Cemetery Rt. 33 East Linn WV.

Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. before services.
