Rev. Carlos Nutter filled his regular appointment at the Burning Springs M. E. Church.

The Creston Community Halloween party is scheduled for Saturday, October 24, starting at 6 P. M. at the Community Building. Donations of food and treats are still needed. There will be contests, a ghastly hayride and a meal for both young and older hobgoblins. The event is one of those times when one can dress up and be somebody. The younger set and those young at heart always have a great time. For details see Bessie Arthur or Rebecca Starcher.

The Creston Neighborhood Watch will have an Adopt A Highway litter pick up Saturday, October 24 starting at 9 A. M. Willing workers should gather at the Jerry Poling residence at the end of the dePue (Creston) straight at 9. A. M. All willing workers are urged to come and participate.

Mr. & Mrs. Tommy Wright are spending some time at their place below Creston. Jimmy Wright who lives in Florida is to come visit for a while.

Eva G. Pennington received a less than satisfactory report from her physician.

Renee Gray was visiting the dapper & young at heart Rod Lynch at his home on Ann's Run. Renee and Mrs. Cap'n Eddie went to the ophthalmologist in Marietta, visited Fenton Art Glass and then went shopping.

Rod Lynch & Cap'n Eddie participated in an archeological dig at the site of the Arnoldsburg Skirmish and found a Minnie ball and a 36 caliber. Others who looked found cut nails, horseshoes and a car antenna.

Chris Boggs who was part of the crime wave that hit the Creston and surrounding areas not so long back is now out of state prison.

Two scruffy looking gentlemen wearing cargo pants were trying to sell a collection of 200 pocket knives in the local area.

Nancy Engelke was consulting her physician.

W. Harrison Schenerlein IV was visiting in Creston while his parents attended a conference on the Marcellus shale in Pittsburgh.

There were signs prominently posted in the Parkersburg area that the flu vaccine was not available. Back when Madame Hillary was trying to socialize medicine she had laws enacted that made it impossible for American drug firms to produce flu vaccine causing it all to be made then in France & England and now, likely China, India and Haiti. It is hard to believe that there are those who want to destroy the world's premier health care system. Those who know are aware that almost all of the cost problems are the result of government meddling, rules, etc. Even Dick Morris noted that the new plan would ration care based on a formula and that all doctors would be forced into the government plan and would be obliged to go by the regulations set up by the federales.

One Stinson resident who had been down with the flu put his home time to good use checking out companies that had drilled wells on his minerals and hadn't paid him royalties.

Randy Whited was attending to business on the Richardsonville Road.

Not so long back Equitable, now called EQT, advised their free gas customers that they were going to send them 1099s which would mean that landowners would have to pay taxes on their free gas. Don Nestor, a CPA who is in the know on oil & gas matters consulted with the IRS. The IRS said free gas is not taxable to the recipient and a 1099 is not to be used. It is noted that free gas is generally considered part of a non-taxable damage claim. Not yet addressed is how much tax-free gas customers will have to pay to the UN or to one of Al Gore's business ventures because of the global warming hoax should the congress critters pass that bill. It seems that the big eared one and this backers are hell bent on taking over the health care business to go along with their takeover of auto companies, banking and insurance companies, etc.

Ms Dunn, one of his spokespersons, recently said that she thought highly of Mao Tse Tung, the late communist dictator of China who killed several times more people than did Adolph Hitler. He like the big eared one said, when he started out, that he wanted to fundamentally change his country.

Maysel Miller got a "thrill" the other morning on her way to work when one of the DNR's deer jumped off the road bank and landed on her chariot knocking the contents of the alimentary canal out on the hood. The panicked critter then hit the windshield but, luckily, didn't break it. Then on down the road she was stopped for going 57 in a 55 and when she pulled over she failed to signal. Of course, after the venison event she was, shall we say, slightly flustered.

VIRCO (Viking) has permitted a horizontal Marcellus well near Macfarlan & Carrizo has permitted a vertical Marcellus in Hardy County as well as Oriskany wells in Hampshire County. EQT has permitted two horizontal wells in the Angola shale in Wyoming County. Mother Hope finally got the nitrogen out of the new well on the Whipkey farm on Laurel in Calhoun County.

Chesapeake continues to permit Marcellus wells in Marshall, Wetzel & Upshur Counties and East Resources announced that they would frac 3 Marcellus wells in Lincoln County.

The price of local Pennsylvania grade crude oil rose to $71.50/bbl.
