Daniel J. Looney, 88 - Newton

Daniel J. Looney, 88, of Newton, West Virginia, died Wednesday, October 7, 2009, at the home of his son and daughter-in-law after an extended illness.

He was born September 18, 1921, at Tariff, WV, a son of the late Asbury M. and Vonnie McGlothlin Looney. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Almeta G. Keen Looney; and brother, Jack Looney. He was a retired heavy equipment operator with Cedar Coal Company, a U.S. Army veteran of WWII, a member of the Linden Lodge #83 A.F. & A.M., and IOOF.

Surviving relatives include a son, John W. Looney, of Newton; sisters, Edith Bullard and Fannie "Pete" Mills, both of Parkersburg, WV; three grandchildren; and one great grandchild.

Friends and family may call Sunday, October 11, 2009, from 2-4:00 p.m. at the John H. Taylor Funeral Home, Spencer, WV. Burial will follow in the Laurel Point Cemetery, Newton.
