JUVENILE STABS MAN TO DEATH - A Princeton juvenile is in custody following the investigation of the stabbing death of a Mercer County man.

Sheriff Don Meadows says the body of David Wayne Shockley, 29, of Princeton was found outdoors. He died at the scene. A male juvenile is in jail.

PHILLIPI STAND-OFF - Gunshots rang out in the peaceful community of Union after a domestic dispute turned into a standoff with police.

Tom G. Ketchum, 65, of Philippi, surrendered to West Virginia State Police after a one-hour standoff. During that time he fired multiple rounds of ammunition at officers.

Ketchum has been charged with one count of wanton endangerment, a felony.

The criminal complaint says, law enforcement officers responded to Ketchum's home in Union for a "domestic assault with weapons involved."

When officers arrived, Ketchum allegedly fired a weapon at them.

The complaint states family members were held hostage for a short time inside the home, but later released.

Ketchum also discharged a weapon inside the residence while his wife, Karen Ketchum, was present.

The complaint says, Karen Ketchum later told police her husband threatened to kill her and the law enforcement officers.

SO. CHARLESTON MAN ARRESTED IN STABBING - A South Charleston man has been arrested in connection with a weekend stabbing in Putnam County.

George Franklin Jeffrey, 21, is charged with two counts of malicious wounding.

Sheriff Mark Smith says it started as a verbal argument that escalated into the stabbing.

Bond has been set at $50,000.

CLARKSBURG MAN DIES OF GUNSHOT - A Clarksburg man has died after an incident around 2:30 a.m. Monday, according to Clarksburg Police.

Jeffrey Blake, 45, died after a gunshot wound to the chest.

Police believe Blake was attempting to transport the handgun to a safer location, according to Detective Dave Wygal, when the gun went off.

Police are still investigating it as a homicide until they can prove otherwise, according to Wygal.
