Bernice O. Griffith, 95 - Spencer

Bernice O. Griffith, 95, of Spencer, West Virginia, died Sunday, October 4, 2009, in the Ravenswood Village, Ravenswood, after an extended illness.

She was born October 19, 1913 at Looneyville, a daughter of the late Milton and Bessie Carpenter Boggs. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lemuel S. Griffith; two sons, Kenneth Griffith and Monzel Griffith; five brothers and one sister.

She was a homemaker and a member of the Epling Chapel Baptist Church, Looneyville.

Survivors include two sons and their wives, Ross J. "Jerry" and Jennie Griffith of Spencer and Milton S. "Bill" and Ruth Griffith of Ripley; two additional daughters-in-law, Luie Griffith of Clover and Helen Griffith of Marietta, OH; one brother, Billy Ray Boggs of Clover; one sister, Pearl Summerfield of Looneyville; eight grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren; three step grandchildren, seven step great grandchildren and nine step great-great grandchildren.

A funeral service will be conducted Thursday, October 8 at 1:00 p.m. in the John H. Taylor Funeral Home, Spencer, with the Rev. Larry Parker officiating. Burial will be in the Clover Cemetery, Clover.

Friends may call Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
