Dorma E. Simons, 81 - Newton

Dorma E. Simons, 81, of Newton, West Virginia, died Tuesday, September 29, 2009, in the Miletree Center, Spencer, after an extended illness.

She was born Thursday, August 23, 1928, in Roane County, a daughter of the late Yale and Elizabeth Smith Dye. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Ofa Simons; five brothers, Robey, Coy, Arnold, Doy and Harold Dye.

Mrs. Simons was a homemaker and mother. She was a member of the Newton Baptist Church, Newton.

Survivors include two sons, Roger Simons of Spencer and Larry Simons of Maysel; five stepsons, Tony Simons of Georgia, Marshall Simons of Ohio, Gordon Simons of Alabama, Averill Simons of Ohio and David Simons of Florida; three brothers, Bettes Dye of Spencer, Jim Dye of Newton and Lowell Dye of Ohio; one sister Catherine Cunningham of Ohio; several grandchildren and great grandchildren.

A funeral service will be conducted Saturday, October 3 at 3:00 p.m. in the Newton Baptist Church, Newton, with the Rev. Ron Fisher officiating. Burial will be in the Keen Cemetery, Newton. Friends may call Saturday one hour prior to the service at the church.

John H. Taylor Funeral Home, Spencer, is in charge of arrangements.
