WOOD COUNTY SHOOTING - 19-year-old Christopher L. Dickel died from gunshot wounds early Sunday morning at the Mineral Manor Apartments in Pettyville.

Police responded to a 911 call at the apartments, Dickel was transported to the hospital where he died later from the gunshot wounds.

CHARLESTON MAN SHOT IN POLICE STRUGGLE - A Charleston man was shot after a struggle with police. A police officer received minor injuries.

The struggle happened in South Charleston shortly after 4 a.m. Monday.

Police responded to a disturbance and found a man sitting inside a car that looked as if he had been in an accident.

The man became combative when the officers started asking questions, according to a police report.

He then ran away, but the officers caught up with him.

It was then when the man tried to grab one of the officers' weapons, police said.

Police said during the struggle over the gun, the officer shot the man in the chest. The injured man was taken the hospital.

The names of the officer and the man haven't been released.

MAN STABBED IN FIGHT - A Charleston man is behind bars after stabbing another man during a fight.

It happened just after midnight Monday.

According to the criminal complaint, Dustin Jenkins was giving Kelvin Mitchell a ride when James Stanley Woods, 24, of Charleston, came up to the passenger's window and started arguing with Mitchell. That's when police say Woods stabbed him.

Mitchell was stabbed in the chest, wrist and elbow, according to the complaint.

Woods has been charged with malicious wounding.
