Emma Ruth Parsons Chenoweth, 93 - Parkersburg

Emma Ruth Parsons Chenoweth, 93, of Parkersburg, passed away Monday, Sept. 14, 2009, at Eagle Pointe Nursing Center, where she had been a resident.

She was born March 19, 1916, in Calhoun County, a daughter of the late Manderville and Dora Keith Parsons.

Ruth attended North Parkersburg Baptist Church until she was no longer able to attend. Ruth never met a stranger and was a long time fan of the Cincinnati Reds. She was a talented cook and cake decorator, including her famous Italian Creme Cake.

Surviving is her son, Robert L. (Mary) Chenoweth of Dallas, Texas; a son-in-law, Elton E. Jones of Lubeck; seven grandchildren, Russell (Brenda) Jones of Lubeck, Mary Jane Jones of Washington, Amy (Matt) Bryant of Frisco, Texas, Tracy (Scott) Bickhaus of Bothell, Wash., Whitney Chenoweth of Bernardsville, N.J., Rachael Chenoweth of Bernardsville, N.J., and Diane (Shane) Mudge of Aledo, Texas; 13 great-grandchildren, James Montgomery (Crystal) and Rachael Montgomery of Parkersburg, Kirsten Jones and Allison Jones of Lubeck, Emily Bryant, Luke Bryant and Audrey Bryant, all of Frisco, Texas, Brittany Bickhaus, Lauren Bickhaus and Blake Bickhaus, all of Bothell, Wash., Parker Mudge, Tori Mudge and Jake Mudge, all of Aledo, Texas; and three great-great-grandchildren, Blake, Skylar and Natalie Montgomery, all of Parkersburg.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thurl Ray Chenoweth; her daughter, Mary Etta Chenoweth Jones; four brothers, Gordon Parsons, Robert Parsons, Milliard Parsons and Wilbur Parsons; and three sisters, Ruby Crawford, Eulalah Bennett and Marie Parsons.

The funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday at Kimes Funeral Home, 521 Fifth St., Parkersburg. Pastor Mike Towner will officiate and burial will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. The visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
